Parent & supporter guide

A steady person beside them can change everything.

GED Extended Learning is a caring, independent GED-preparation course. It gives learners a clear study rhythm, while you bring the belief, calm, and encouragement that make progress feel possible.

“Celebrate the small markers along the way. They are proof that you are moving, not standing still.”

Sanet Britz

How the course works

Sixty days, one gentle routine.

  1. 1. Four connected subjects each day. Learners meet a small Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies lesson.
  2. 2. Learn, practise, then check. Lessons include videos, study visuals, worksheets, and topic-specific self-tests.
  3. 3. Eighty percent opens the path. Passing each daily self-test at 80% unlocks the next calendar day after 24 hours.
  4. 4. Practice is not a judgement. Feedback and retry opportunities show the learner what to revisit next.

Your support matters

01

Notice the effort

Ask what they understood or found interesting, rather than only asking about scores.

02

Protect the rhythm

Help them make a quiet 20 to 30 minute study space and respect their 24-hour learning pause.

03

Keep it kind

Mistakes are part of practice. Encourage a break, a replay, or a second attempt without pressure.

When learning feels difficult

Try this first.

  • Ask them to name one part that made sense.
  • Suggest a short pause, then one replay or one worksheet question.
  • Remind them that a low score gives a useful next step, not a label.
  • Celebrate returning to the work after a hard moment.
